Dr. Moshe Szyf has led the promotion of the esoteric science of epigenetics in the wider community, is the founder of the field of behavioral epigenetics and promoted it in more than 390 public and key-note scientific lectures to a wide spectrum of audiences globally. He was the first to realize the translational value of DNA methylation in his TIPS paper from 1994, founded the first Pharma in the world to explore epigenetic drugs Methylgene Inc in Montreal, is a cofounder of the Sackler program in epigenetics, is the founding chief editor of the first scientific journal in Epigenetics “Epigenetics” (IF >5) and led multinational collaborative research projects.
Dr. Szyf has more than 260 PubMed listed papers on the biological role of DNA methylation that span a broad spectrum from basic mechanisms to translation to cancer diagnostics and therapeutics as well as behavior, neurosciences, chronic pain and addiction. Productivity has been increasing in recent years with more than 95 papers listed in the last five years and 22 in 2015. Szyf is an inventor of a spectrum of patents covering the broadest applications of DNA methylation.
